IMMIGRATION ATTORNEY. ADVOCATE. PUBLIC SERVANT

Confident woman with long hair wearing a red blazer and butterfly pin.

Nubia Batista Willman believes every family deserves the opportunity to build a safe, stable, and successful future.

As a Mexican immigrant who grew up in poverty and experienced domestic violence as a child, Nubia knows how hard life can be when the odds are stacked against you. She also knows the difference that community, opportunity, and a helping hand can make.

As a teenager, the people of the 25th Ward allowed her to envision a future filled with possibilities, guiding her path to Chicago and shaping her life’s work.

For more than 15 years, Nubia has fought for working families, immigrants, survivors of violence, and communities seeking a fair shot at opportunity. As an immigration attorney in legal aid, she stood beside families navigating some of the most difficult moments of their lives. As a union steward, she represented coworkers, resolved workplace disputes, and fought for fair treatment and protections on the job. In the nonprofit sector, she helped connect small businesses and community organizations with the resources they needed to grow and succeed.

Her commitment to service led her into civic leadership, in Chicago City Hall she led immigration policy and city-wide community engagement. There,  she expanded access to critical services, policies, and resources for Chicago families.

No matter the role, her mission is always the same: helping people overcome barriers, solve problems, and build better futures for themselves and their families.

Nubia found a home in Pilsen and Little Village because she saw in these neighborhoods the same values that shaped her own life: resilience, community, cultural pride, and a tradition of standing up for one another.

Today, she is running for Alderman because she wants every family in the 25th Ward to have the same possibilities this neighborhood gave her: the opportunity to build a safe and stable life.

She understands the struggles  our neighbors face because she has lived many of them herself. She also knows how to navigate government, bring people together, and deliver results. She is ready to lead on day one.
